ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Phu Quoc fish sauce factories are distinctive cultural attractions where visitors can discover the traditional fish sauce-making craft that has been passed down through generations on the island.
The fish sauce is made from fresh anchovies caught in the waters around Phu Quoc, carefully selected and naturally fermented in large wooden barrels for an extended period. Following traditional methods, the finished fish sauce has a clear amber-brown color, a distinctive aroma, a rich savory taste, and a naturally sweet aftertaste, capturing the flavors of the sea.
Visitors can learn firsthand about the traditional process, including fishing, fermenting the anchovies, extracting the fish sauce, and bottling the finished product. They can also taste authentic Phu Quoc fish sauce and purchase local products as souvenirs.
A visit to a fish sauce factory is also an opportunity to discover a traditional craft deeply connected to the daily life and maritime culture of the local Phu Quoc community.
