ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
When visiting Phu Quoc, don’t spend all your time enjoying the beaches and taking photos at popular attractions. Make time to discover the authentic flavors of the Pearl Island – from simple local dishes to fresh seafood straight from the sea.
Fresh rice noodles, shrimp paste, fish cake, and squid are prepared right at the restaurant and served with a light, naturally sweet broth and a dipping sauce that you mix yourself. Simple yet distinctive, Bún Quậy is one of Phu Quoc’s signature dishes.
📍 Recommended: KIẾN – XÂY Bún Quậy
A distinctive coastal specialty featuring a rich and aromatic broth made with fish, coconut milk, and local spices. It is served with rice noodles, fresh herbs, and various toppings. The result is a delicious combination of creamy, fragrant, and savory flavors.
📍 Recommended: Út Lượm Bún Kèn
Fresh herring is thinly sliced and served with onions, grated coconut, peanuts, and a signature dipping sauce, then wrapped in rice paper with fresh herbs. The freshness of the fish combined with the rich, tangy, and spicy flavors makes this one of Phu Quoc’s most distinctive local dishes.
📍 Suggestion: Try it at local seafood restaurants or around Phu Quoc’s traditional fishing villages.
Fresh crab from the Ham Ninh area is known for its firm, sweet, and flavorful meat. One of the best ways to enjoy it is simply steamed and served with salt, pepper, and lime, allowing you to fully appreciate its natural sweetness.
📍 Recommended: Floating seafood restaurants and local seafood eateries in Ham Ninh Fishing Village.
A comforting bowl of hot noodle soup featuring a naturally sweet broth, soft and chewy noodles, and generous pieces of fresh crab. It is a great choice for a light meal while still enjoying the flavors of the sea.
📍 Recommended: Bé Mập – Fat Crab Noodle Soup
A trip to Phu Quoc would not be complete without enjoying a meal of fresh local seafood. Choose from prawns, squid, crab, sea urchin, snails, pen shell scallops, and more. You can select your seafood and have it prepared to your preference, such as steamed, grilled, tamarind-glazed, or grilled with scallion oil.
📍 Recommended: Tám Nắng – Fresh Seafood or Xin Chao Phu Quoc Restaurant
If this is your first time in Phu Quoc, you can easily plan a delicious food journey: Bún Quậy for breakfast → crab noodle soup for lunch → Ham Ninh crab in the afternoon → fresh seafood for dinner.
And don’t forget to save another meal for Bún Kèn and Herring Salad – two local specialties that offer a true taste of Phu Quoc.
